Why are lab reports important?
In any scientific field, an understanding of the scientific method is essential. But what is the point of coming up with the latest and greatest discovery if you can’t share your findings with others? Typically, a student’s first encounter with scientific writing is a lab report.
What’s included in the lab report bundle?
Lab reports help students tell the story of what happened during a classroom experiment. As with any story, they need to have a beginning, middle, and end.
Students start with the introduction, objective, and their hypothesis to set the stage for the report and to identify their initial predictions.
The middle of their lab report consists of the procedure and data sections, where they describe their experiment in detail and display the results that they collected.
Finally, students conclude their story in the results and conclusion section by either supporting or refuting their hypothesis.
Our lab report template provides all the common components of a lab report, as well as guided instructions for the content that should go into each section. As this document is editable, you can remove any sections that aren’t applicable to your lab activity, or add more specific guidelines to fit your lab report standards. This template can also be printed to simplify the classroom experience.
