GameSquare and NFL partner for ‘NFL 4 The Fans’ event series

Gaming creator and esports media company, GameSquare has announced a partnership with the NFL for a brand-new content series. During this upcoming season, the NFL 4 The Fans event series will blend fandom on gameday with interactive gaming and accessible, creator-driven content.

“The NFL believes GameSquare will be instrumental in broadening our engagement with new and existing audiences,” said Ed Kiang, vice president of video gaming for the NFL. “We are excited to see what GameSquare has in store as they bring the NFL 4 The Fans Live creator roadshow to life during the 2024 NFL season.”

Fans can watch NFL 4 The Fans online, but there will be opportunities for fans to attend in-person. The show will feature a mix of football talent, gaming creators and mainstream artists and entertainers. While GameSquare did not announce the number of shows or the host cities, the series will travel across the U.S. coinciding with key moments in the football season.

No matter how fans tune in, the show will give them opportunities to participate including challenges in chat, in-game and on-set.

Expanding GameSquare’s NFL ties

A partnership between GameSquare and the NFL is natural fit given the gaming company’s ties to football.

GameSquare is a public company, but it is financially and strategically backed by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Moreover, Tom Walker, CFO of both the Cowboys and the Jones Family Office, sits on GameSquare’s board of directors.

“We are excited to partner with the NFL to produce NFL 4 The Fans Live and bring together gaming and NFL football cultures around some of the biggest moments of the NFL season,” said Justin Kenna, CEO of GameSquare. “Today’s announcement demonstrates the NFL’s commitment to expand its reach to youth and gaming audiences, communities that share a passion for sports, creator-driven content, and live events. We are thrilled by the opportunity to drive engagement to these communities by leveraging GameSquare’s production, amplification, and talent management expertise.”

GameSquare has previously worked with the Dallas Cowboys on a number of crossover promotions to reach both gaming and sports audiences. Most recently, GameSquare helped the team launch its official gaming community platform, Dallas Cowboys Game Time. The promotion was part of a larger partnership between the football team and Lenovo.

TimTheTatman helped announce the Dallas Cowboys 2024 schedule

In October 2023, GameSquare acquired fellow gaming and esports brand FaZe Clan. In May, the company spun-off its creator-focused assets into FaZe Media. Its unclear which GameSquare creators will be featured in NFL 4 the Fans, but FaZe Clan members, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins (GameSquare’s Chief Innovation Officer) and Tim “TimTheTatman” Betar (part owner of GameSquare) are safe bets.

The 2024 NFL Season kicks off on September 5.
