Parents, this is a recall alert we never want to hear, but safety comes first, especially when it involves the tiniest members of our families. Dynarex Corporation has expanded its recall of Dynacare Baby Powder (14 oz. and 4 oz. varieties) due to potential asbestos contamination, which was discovered through an FDA sampling program.
Asbestos, a known carcinogen, has serious health implications, making this recall especially important for families to be aware of and act on quickly.
Why the recall?
Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that’s sometimes found near talc, an ingredient commonly used in baby powders. While talc itself is safe, if not properly purified, it can contain asbestos. The FDA’s routine sampling found traces of asbestos in these Dynacare Baby Powder products, prompting the recall to prevent any risk to consumers. Dynarex has since halted all distribution of the affected products and is investigating how the contamination occurred.
The recall includes:
- 14 oz. Dynacare Baby Powder, item number 4875
- 4 oz. Dynacare Baby Powder, item number 4874
These products were distributed as early as January 18, 2024, across multiple states, including Alabama, California, New York, Texas, and many others. They were also available for purchase on Amazon, so if you’ve bought baby powder online, please check your order history.
