Sally Jessy Raphael, the renowned former radio host and Emmy-winning talk show personality, has put her long-held country estate in New York’s Dutchess County on the market.
The sprawling 25.5-acre Pawling property, known as Elmwood Farm, listed for $6.5 million, according to the Robb Report.
Purchased by Raphael and her late husband Karl Soderland in 1997 for over $1.7 million, the property had been in the same family for nine generations.
Elmwood Farm has an Elizabethan-style Tudor manor house, along with additional structures including two caretaker homes, a carriage house with chauffeur’s quarters, a yoga studio, and a 12,000-square-foot stable.
The 15,000-square-foot mansion, built in 1860, has 17 bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and four powder rooms, with ornate details scattered throughout its 43 rooms. The home has a fireside dining room, a grand oak staircase adorned with hand-carved animals, and a refined living room.
Other features include a kitchen with marble counters, a music room, a solarium with arched windows, and a den.
The exterior hosts a slightly neglected garden, a swimming pool, a tennis court, and equestrian amenities requiring some attention.
Public records reported by the outlet show Raphael, now in her late 80s, also owns a townhouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, acquired from Broadway composer and lyricist Jerry Herman in 1993 and previously owned by billionaire Nelson Peltz.
Raphael was the host of the “The Sally Jessy Raphael Show,” a daytime talk show that ran for nearly 20 years from the early 1980s to the early 2000s.
The Hudson Valley county saw a record last year when Suzy Welch sold her 290-acre estate in Red Hook for $18.5 million.
The sale beat the standing record set by a 2011 deal in Millbrook as the most expensive deal in Dutchess County history, according to an agent in the deal, but came in under Welch’s initial asking price of $25 million. The listing was Hudson Valley’s second-most expensive at the time.
