Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh expecting their first baby: ‘Over the moon’ with joy”

Tim Tebow is stepping into his biggest role yet—dad!

The former NFL quarterback and University of Florida legend is expecting his first child with wife Demi-Leigh Tebow. The couple shared the joyful news exclusively with PEOPLE before announcing it on Instagram, expressing their deep gratitude and anticipation.

“We are just so excited and so over the moon to be having a baby together,” Demi-Leigh, 29, shared. The former Miss Universe, now 16 weeks pregnant, is thrilled to embark on this new journey with Tim, whom she calls the perfect life partner.

Tim, 37, reflected on how the news has already shifted his perspective. “It’s just amazing how it also reprioritizes and changes what you put an emphasis on and what you value most,” he shared. “News like that just supersedes the level of importance and the level of joy that you have.”

The two first met in 2018, got engaged in 2019, and tied the knot in a stunning South African wedding in January 2020. Now, five years into marriage, they’re preparing to welcome their little one—and if you ask Tim, Demi-Leigh is going to be an incredible mom.

“She will be extremely loyal and loving. Demi is someone that is extremely determined. When she sets her mind to something, she goes all the way in—and I know that she will do that as a mom, too.”

And the feeling is mutual. Demi-Leigh praised Tim for his thoughtfulness, wisdom, and grace, saying, “I see Tim live that out as a walking example every single day. That is something that will be so instrumental.”

While Demi-Leigh admitted that the first trimester wasn’t the easiest—hello, exhaustion—she’s loving pregnancy overall. “I have gained the absolute just new respect for moms, especially moms that are working,” she said, adding that she’s giving herself grace through the experience.

Along with preparing for fatherhood, Tim is a sports analyst. He contributes to ESPN and the SEC Network, where he’s a key member of the traveling pregame show, SEC Nation, providing insight and commentary on college football.

Baby Tebow is due this summer, and while it’s too early to say if football (or pageants!) are in their future, one thing is for sure—this little one is already so loved.

Congratulations to Team Tebow!
